internet of thingsIs your organization built for disruption?  Do you value creative thinking? In this age of innovation, where mobile and other emerging trends advance quickly and consumer adoption of these new technologies is at a break neck pace, this disruption will continue to be felt across industries.  In recent week’s, we’ve looked at this disruptive impact on banking, retail and travel, but the reality is that regardless of what industry, or what size your organization, the impact disruptive impact of mobile technologies can be felt.

Disruption, when properly embraced and managed, creates opportunity, that in the best of examples can lead to innovation:

Innovation at the edges.

Luxury fashion brands are a great example of disruption causing innovation. Traditionally known for quality craftsmanship and label recognition, some fashion brands have had to reinvent themselves with the rise of digital platforms promising luxury to everyone. Successful brands have reached out customers outside of their typical demographic markets in order to maintain their edge. In this case, it’s an issue of disrupt or die.

Internet of Things.

As the pervasive experience extends beyond the mobile device, the next big innovation for technology proves to be the Internet of Things. A concept poised to disrupt our current ways of solving problems and even the way the workplace functions.  This disruption provides seamless information transmitted from machine to machine while held together by the invisible structure of a wireless network. Think of the creation of the smart home and the ability to remotely control the lights in your home from your mobile device while on vacation. Or in a business setting, the ability to monitor the maintenance status of a machnine so that it can be proactively maintained before requiring costly repairs.

Are you ready to embrace the disruption facing your organization and turn it into an innovation opportunity?
